Case studies

The same four habits on every project, from the first “why” to the shipped build.

01

Start in the problem

Every project begins away from Figma, in the metric that’s slipping, the constraint, the real “why.” Most of my leverage is here: deciding what’s worth building and what to leave out.

02

Own the whole arc

I work across the seams on purpose, research, product and scope calls, design, then enough engineering to ship. The problems worth solving never sit neatly inside one job title.

03

Design in code

I hand engineering working components, not static mockups. Designing in the real system, as a package, through the Figma MCP, keeps intent intact from idea to production.

04

AI-native by default

I prototype and de-risk bets with AI before a sprint is committed. Weak ideas die in hours instead of sprints, so the team only builds what’s already been pressure-tested.

The best thing I bring a team isn’t a beautiful screen. It’s the judgment that stops us building the wrong thing.

Anas

I’m Anas Sohail, a senior product designer, six years in, currently at Xoopah where I’ve spent the last two years taking products from “why should this exist” to shipped.

I’m most useful in the messy middle, where the problem isn’t defined, the metric is slipping, and someone has to decide what’s actually worth building. I like owning that part. I’ve worked across the seams on purpose: research, product calls, design, and enough engineering to ship in code, because the problems I find interesting never sit neatly inside one job title.

Outside work I’m a gamer, and I think it shows in how I work: I like systems, I like getting measurably better at things, and I don’t mind losing a few rounds while I learn the map.

The best read on how I think is a conversation. If you’re building a product where design owns more than the screens, I’d like to hear about it.
